After church, and naps...we had Easter baskets. The picture of Emily with the chocolate bunny made me laugh because, when she was about 4, she heard our friend say, "Emily...since you don't want to eat your breakfast, I guess you don't want to have this chocolate bunny". Emily stuck her head out and said, "CHOCKkwhut BUNny?" So, we always laugh about that when there are chocolate bunnies around. The picture of Karli with the marshmallow peep is funny because, she put it in her mouth and then decided she didn't like it at all...so she just stood there with it sticking out of her mouth. Goof!

Corey has a cd by a group called "Tower of Power". It's a bunch of old white guys singing jazzy blues music. Jeremy likes to play it and got Karli to sing the words. We tried to catch her singing in the van...where she does it best...but this is as good as we could get it on tape. Anyway...have fun!

Flat Daddy Goes to Church

So..we dressed up flat daddy in a tie and took him to church. He tried to play Foosball but it's hard when your arms don't work. He's fun to play peek a boo with...according to Karli...and Abby has enjoyed trying different ties on him. But, he isn't very helpful. When I ask him to take out the trash, he just smiles.

We received our "Flat Daddy" in the mail yesterday. It is a bigger than life sized picture of Corey. It came as a big poster in a tube and we took it to Hobby Lobby to have it dry mounted and then I cut it out with an Exacto knife. So...here are pictures of the trip to Hobby Lobby, the trip home from Hobby Lobby, me cutting him out, and some goofy pictures that we took...we stole the bed picture from our friend, Angie Kinnan. The girls were really excited to see "Daddy" and have been talking to him since he came home.

Corey's Departure

Well, Corey left for the long trip to Iraq on Monday morning. We said goodbye to him at about 1am. We were just waiting around until he had to leave and we were all feeling very sad so, I decided to get out the camera and take some fun pictures. One picture will be used for a "Flat Daddy" and the others were just us trying to have fun. The last one is of Corey at the Bangor, Maine airport. They have veterans who are there 24/7 greeting the troops and taking pictures. They even have a room full of cell phones for them to use free.

On Friday, December 12, Corey and I went to the Battalion Christmas/Pre Deployment Ball. We weren't sure what to expect but we had a fun time! The little girls were so excited to see me get "dressed up like a princess". Emily babysat another couple's children and Jeremy was in charge of our little girls. It was a treat to dress up!

Saying Goodbye

Well, we've been away from Georgia for over 2 weeks now and I'm finally feeling like posting. Saying goodbye to our little tiny church in Lithia Springs was the hardest goodbye we've had yet. We honestly didn't feel "done" there and it was very emotional. Today I took the first pictures since we left because we've all been a little down about moving and just haven't felt like taking pictures. I apologize to my friends for not keeping you up to date with our move and keeping track of our adventure on the blog.
I want to encourage whoever reads this to love one another deeply. There's a part of me that doesn't want to do that because it's so painful when you say goodbye to those you've grown to love with all your heart. I was reading through 1st and 2nd Peter and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John right after we left and the verses about loving one another as Christ loves us jumped out at me over and over. In 2 John 10:5 it says, "And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another." 1 John 4:10 says, "beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God." 1 Peter 1:22 says, "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart." And 1 Peter 4:8, "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins." I'm so thankful that we have had the privilege of having hearts that hurt because we've loved and been loved deeply, from the heart. In our many moves, it has grieved me to meet Christians who have been in the same church for years and yet lack those deep, loving relationships with other Christians. If you are one of those people, can I encourage to to step out in faith and make yourself vulnerable and purpose to really get to know another Christian? It can be a frightening thing to put yourself out there. You might get hurt. Someone might, and probably will, disappoint you. But it's so worth it to love like that! We have friends all over the world that we've "collected" like precious treasure. I can pick up the phone and pick up where we left off. I have friends I can call when I'm struggling and I know they will listen and encourage me and pray for me and steer me in a godly direction and they know I will do the same for them. How many times have I seen someone who doesn't have even one close Christian sister or brother to talk to? Without that sweet relationship that provides friendship and accountability, many fall into sin and suffer terrible consequences for their ungodly choices. I'm convinced that if we could just learn to open up and share our deepest thoughts with someone we trust....someone who loves the Lord and will gently remind us of His truth...it would save a multitude of Christians from falling into temptation. Those of you who know me well know that this is one of my "soap boxes". I suppose it's because we don't have the luxury of sitting in a pew for years before we make good friends that we've learned to foster those relationships quickly. And we've been SOOOO blessed! Thank you to our good friends who, even though they knew we could leave at any time, chose to love us deeply, from the heart. I get tired of saying goodbye, but it makes me long for heaven where we'll get to be with all of you forever with Jesus. Clyde, your favorite song has been stuck in my head for the past couple of weeks. Here's just one verse and the chorus:

With the One who died for me,

Hi Y'all,
I'm finally putting the slideshows up from our last camping trip. We went with Pastor Barry and Debbie to Lake Allatoona. It was our first trip in our new camper...Pastor and Debbie were in his dad's motor home. We had a lot of fun and had some crazy weather.
Jeremy and Emily had fun with a big piece of foam. They managed to get on it and push themselves to the other side without falling in. I was impressed!

Yesterday (March 4th), I took Emily to the hair salon for a hair "makeover". She wanted to donate her ponytail to Beautiful Lengths. It's an organization that makes wigs for women who are undergoing cancer treatment. http://beautifullengths.com/en_US/index_home.jsp She did it in honor of her Grandma Woods, Debbie Gillis, and her great Aunt Jane. She had 11 inches cut and she looks so cute in her new bouncy hairdo. Enjoy the pictures!

Camping in Cherokee NC

On October 11-14, we went camping with our friends, the Richard's. We took our pop up and they had their travel trailer. It was lots of fun and so pretty! One day, we went down to Bryson City and visited a train museum and drove around the town. Patti and I had both read a book called, "Bryson City Tales" about a Dr.'s experiences working in a small mountain town. She and I tried to locate different places that we'd read about in the book. We stayed at a wonderful campground called, "Adventure Trails Campground". It was perfect for lots of kids. You can see it at www.atcampground.com.

Zoey's 3rd Birthday

Here are pictures from September 27th. Zoey turned 3 and she was so excited all week. Pastor Barry and Debbie came over as well as Nicki from across the street. We had presents and cake and Zoey was too cute! Her very favorite present came from Grandma Nan. It's a write-on wipe-off book that she can literally spend hours on. In fact, I already had to buy replacement dry erase markers for it. First week of Homeschool

Well, this was our first week of homeschool using all new curriculum. I think it's gone quite well. I was very encouraged to see how thorough Jeremy and Emily were in their work and it was fun to watch them help each other work through some of the assignments. This week we learned a lot about Ancient Egypt and what the culture was like during the time that the Israelites were there. Very interesting! Abby and Zoey are doing some preschool kinds of things and they are excited each day for their "school" time. It's fun to see their eagerness!

We made it home last night! YEA! Everyone was soooo happy to get back. Especially Karli...she was very done with riding in the van!
I will get birthday pictures up here eventually and I think Jeremy is working on a slideshow of all the swimming we did.
We went to KY to the new Creation Science Museum and ran into some friends we knew in Germany....the Lawson's. It was kind of funny. Ken is an Army chaplain and they are getting ready to go to Puerto Rico for a tour there. The museum was jam packed and we certainly didn't expect to run into anyone we knew.

Hi everyone,
Well, I promised you pictures of the prairie dog hunt and...well, Jeremy made a really neat slideshow with music and I am having a terrible time getting it on here. So, while I'm waiting for it to supposedly download, I thought I'd at least write something. The kids had a grand time out at the ranch Friday and Saturday...I think it was the highlight of the whole trip. Emily got to mingle with Grandpa Lyle's horses and the new colts. She was in seventh heaven! On Saturday afternoon we all went to Raging Rivers which is a water park....it was lots of fun too. Then, on Sunday, we had the big birthday party. There are 7 July birthdays in Corey's family. Karli was the star since it was her official 1st birthday on Sunday and I have some great pictures of her covered in purple frosting. Emily's 12th birthday was yesterday and she had fun too. Today we drove to the lake again and had a beautiful evening for tubing....it was sooo much fun! The plan for tomorrow is to play a little more at the lake and then drive to Minneapolis to see Corey's other sister, Margaret.

Fix the camper and then swim

Corey and Jeremy worked on the camper last night (Thursday) and this morning. They had to take off the entire seam that is down the middle of the roof, reseal it, and put it back together. Then they headed out to the family ranch with Emily, Nick, Mike, Corey's dad, and Tim to spend the night and then....shoot prairie dogs. I asked Corey how he could needlessly kill one of God's creatures and he replied, "God made them for target practice." So, he took the video camera with him and I'm hoping to figure out how to get that on here later. After they all left for the ranch, Nancy and I took the 3 little girls for a swim at Uncle Tim and Aunt Kathy's house. I think Grandma Nan is Zoey's new best friend. She was letting go of her fear of the water...as you can tell in the pictures!

Day 5 & 6

Hello Virtual Travelers,

Our day at Pelican Lake was a bust! We slept in the camper Monday night and it rained and poured for several hours. When I got up to give Karli a bottle, there was about 1/2 an inch of water on the camper floor. Lovely! I didn't sleep a wink because when the rain finally stopped, the hurricane force winds started. I don't know that the wind was ACTUALLY hurricane force but, it sure felt like we were about to blow away. Jane and Dave's backyard was full of sticks Tuesday morning and we sent the kids out to pick them up.....to keep them busy while we got ready to go to Mandan. We decided to try the lake again on our way back through because it was windy and cold on Tuesday....we want to go tubing and waterskiing when it's warm! We arrived at Corey's mom's house Tuesday afternoon.
Today we are just doing laundry and Corey is being Nancy's handyman. He also has to be my handyman and fix the seal on the camper. We will go to Corey's brother's house tonight for pizza and I'll have some pictures later.

Hey, we're at my Great Aunt's house by Pelican Lake in Minnesota. They have a big house! Today we drove about ten hours today. We all thought we were never gonna get there but we made it! There is not alot to say about today because it was all driving.... unless you want to here my dream while I was sleeping in the car. LOL. Just kidding! We are gonna be busy tommorow so either my mom or I will post. See Ya!

We're at Pelican Lake in MN now but I just uploaded the slideshow of our visit with the Markham's. There are a 2 pictures of the kids crashed out in the living room after 2 late nights of playing Age of Empires with Mark. You don't want to know what time they all went to bed!
The funniest pictuers are of Pastor Mark.....we were going to go on a picnic at a lake but, when we got there, it was raining cats and dogs and windy as all get out and lightning to beat the band. Mark and Mary ran out to see if anyone else they had invited was there and then Mark came to tell us we were all going back to their house to have a picnic inside. So, there are 2 pictures of Mark in the pouring rain....he said it was raining so hard he couldn't breathe. Oh yes, there are also a couple of pictures of our Wii bowling tournament....that was fun! Enjoy!

Day 3 and 4

Well, we're now in Norske country and Corey has started reverting back to his old accent, don't cha know! Yesterday, we drove from Kankakee, IL to Niagara WI. We stopped at Sheboygan, WI and swam in Lake Michigan. It was sooooo nice to get out of the van and play for awhile. We arrived in Niagara, WI just in time to have dinner with our friends, the Markhams. Mark was our pastor when we were in Germany and we have remained good friends. This morning, we went to their church and it was wonderful to hear Mark preach again and to hear the congregation sing! Right now, their oldest daughter, Jessie, is showing me how to do cool things on my blog....so, just wait....it's going to be great!

I'm adding to Jeremy's post. Tonight, we are sitting around the campfire at the KOA Kampground in Kankakee, IL. There are a lot of people here! We had a fun visit with our old friends in New Market, IN. Last time we saw them, they had 2 kids and we had 2 kids. Now there are 8! I made a slide show movie but I can't figure out how to get it on the blog...oh well. I have lots of other pictures and hopefully, we'll be able to put some more up tomorrow.
I am TIRED. Karli decided last night that we needed to walk around and around the campground from 2am to 4am. I was having a hard time not being grouchy about it but, I've come to believe that the Lord will give me rest eventually and so, I have to trust in that.
Ok, I have to submit to my husband now and eat a s'more....he's shoving it in my face.

Sorry I haven't posted........ couldn't get a connection at the campground last night. Anyway, we drove all the way to Kentucky yesterday and today we drove from there to........... I forgot where. Today we visited the pastor who married my mom and Dad. It was fun to see Dad so happy. Abby was running with her flip flops on yesterday and fell face flat on the concrete. Well hopefully I'll get a connection tomorrow............BYE!
